Bowlfish: bait and endangered-fish quest
Bowlfish counts as an endangered fish for the third-island swimmer quest, according to Steam players. Keep a catch for the quest before selling it.
Which lure should you use?
The community bait table lists Bowlfish under Standard Lure. This identifies a bait pool, not a guaranteed catch or an exclusive spawn coordinate.
How to check the fish
Hold the catch and use Inspect (default F). Look for its endangered label. The task asks for that category; a large or aggressive fish is not automatically eligible.
If you catch Needlefish first
Players also identify Needlefish as eligible. Check the quest dialogue before spending more time targeting a Bowlfish specifically.
