Beginner guide (first hour)

Progress in How to Fish is quest-gated, not catch-gated. Selling more fish makes you richer. It does not unlock the next island.

First hour

1. On the starter shore, learn tension. Snapped lines are cheaper here than on Island 2.
2. Sell early fish. Buy a stronger rod/line before cosmetics.
3. Get the boat moving (hull / engine) so you can actually use the Radar later.
4. Pick up a basic weapon. Later islands mix fishing with shooting — the Giant Piranha is a gun fight, not a pure reel fight.
5. Leave the starter island only after the local quest / Radar is working. If the Radar is gone after a reload, look for a spare on a post under the signposts.
